Founded in 1990, the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno is among the most sought-after professional choruses in Europe. Its repertoire, consisting mainly of oratorios and cantatas, has recently been expanded to encompass opera as well. The chorus gives about 90 concerts every year in the Czech Republic and abroad and won an »ECHO Classic Award« as »Vocal Ensemble of the Year« in 2007.

By now, the chorus has worked with many of the most renowned Czech and foreign orchestras. It has been conducted by Zubin Mehta, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Kurt Masur, Paavo Järvi, Jukka-Pekka Saraste and Christoph Eschenbach, among others.
The chorus regularly makes guest appearances in the international music centres and at major festivals, for example the »BBC Proms« in London and the Rheingau Music Festival. Numerous CD recordings, some of which have won important prizes like the »ECHO Classic Award« and German Record Critics’ Award, document the ensemble’s work. Its founder, music director and conductor is Petr Fiala, whose 70th birthday is being celebrated this year.
